Konica Minolta South Africa, a division of Bidvest Office (Pty) Ltd, has increased its presence within the Eastern Cape province, with the opening of a branch based in Mthatha.
Mthatha (previously known as Umtata, the capital city of the Transkei) is now the main town of the King Sabata Dalindyebo Local Municipality area and is best known for the Nelson Mandela Museum in town, as well as being a popular stop-over point for travellers between East London and Durban.
According to Konica Minolta South Africa’s newly appointed East London and Mthatha branch and sales manager, Gary Eves, the organisation has bolstered its presence within the province for two main reasons. “Firstly, we have excelled within the local public sector space and see great potential in continuing this trend while also growing our foothold within the Eastern Cape’s commercial segment,” he explains.
“Secondly, the distance between East London and Mthatha is almost 180 kilometres. From a logistical perspective, this has meant that technical and sales employees from the East London branch have had to travel a minimum of three hours to see Mthatha-based clients, often having to stay overnight.”
The new Mthatha branch will be staffed with two dedicated technicians, two sales people and one administrative staff member. Both branches will be headed up by Eves, who will travel to the Mthatha office on a fortnightly basis.
An established member of the Konica Minolta South Africa team, Eves joined the company’s Johannesburg branch in 2010 as sales manager, bringing with him 30 years worth of experience within the document management field.
“Gary’s strong sales history, far-reaching skills and understanding of the document management industry made him the ideal person for the Eastern Cape branch and sales manager position,” says Alan Griffith, Konica Minolta South Africa’s MD. “We look forward to seeing the Eastern Cape branches reach even greater heights under his leadership.”
