Key into Colour

A disbelieving Faizel Karim, sales manager at Konica Minolta South Africa's Newcastle branch, is handed the keys to his brand new, bright red Mercedes-Benz A180. Pictured here with Marianna Gdanis, business unit manager, and Andrew Griffith, product manager: office products at the Bidvest company, Karim was announced the overall winner in the company's 13th and final "Key into Colour" competition, which saw 123 qualifiers vying to become the owner of the car.

The Key into Colour incentive ran from January to June this year, with all active sales consultants from the company and its authorised distributors awarded points for new machine sales. Culminating in a game of chance, point holders were awarded with keys – 494 in total – of which only three opened the safe holding the keys to the Mercedes. Of these three keys, Karim held the one that started the car's engine, to great fanfare.

Says Griffith: "The growth and success of Key in Colour initiative over the past 13 years has underscored that of the business itself. From humble beginnings in 2001, where 220 colour machines were sold, to a whopping 6,700 sold over the period for 2014 – Konica Minolta South Africa's most successful year yet - our entire team must be congratulated for fantastic results, particularly within a tough marketplace. We look forward to introducing our new software and integration focused competition in 2015."
