Konica Minolta South Africa (KMSA) is proud to announce that it has retained its lead in the digital full colour copier / printer market for the sixth consecutive year since 2001, having captured 40% of the total market share. This is according to the InfoSource Spring 2007 survey. KMSA colour division manager, Marianna Gdanis, says the overall digital full colour market in South Africa grew by 110%, of which KMSA has a substantial 40% share. Digital full colour products are categorized in Segments according to their engine speed. Segment 3 (13–29 full colour pages per minute (ppm)) grew by 99%, of which KMSA have 40% market share and Segment 4 (30-49 ppm) grew by an exceptional 141%, of which KMSA have 41% market share. “There is no doubt that KMSA own these two segments with unrivalled products and unrivalled support,” says Gdanis. Segment 5 (50+ ppm), grew by a massive 150%, of which KMSA has a 17% share of the market. Gdanis says the market trend is clear. “Customers want faster products and KMSA offers these at very affordable prices. The growth in Segment 3 and 4 is on-going and KMSA’s current strength, but the greatest market growth is indicated in Segment 5. This growth confirms KMSA’s decision to introduce more production full colour devices, is a good one,” she says. KMSA recently launched the 65 ppm bizhub PRO C6500, which offers users exceptional value with unrivalled versatility and productivity. The bizhub PRO C6500 offers outstanding quality, high volume performance and is capable of producing up to 300,000 colour pages per month. Gdanis says the full colour market grew substantially more than the colour capable market, which are monochrome devices with colour capability. “This is because customers realise they can purchase full colour products from KMSA at no price premium to the colour capable units offered by the opposition. In addition, they get better features, quality and speed for no additional premium,” she says.
