Konica Minolta Sponsorship
Konica Minolta “Give A Gift” Christmas campaign,
The excitement of unwrapping gifts and getting new toys is what makes Christmas complete for most children, but for thousands of orphans and vulnerable children, Christmas is filled with loneliness and gloom. Early in December 2009, a request was sent to Head Office and Johannesburg Branch staff to get involved by donating new and second hand toys. The response received was phenomenal and as a result we were in a position to “give a gift” to the children of three different homes and in return, receive the joy of being responsible for so many little smiles.
The homes we were able to assist with our “give a gift” campaign: Compass, Edenvale—47 children On the 15th December, staff from Head Office and Johannesburg branch went to Compass in Edenvale to hand out gifts and spend some time with the children. Two full bags of second hand toys was also delivered for the children. Ithembehlelihle, Primrose—Thokosa School Children - 69 children All the children from this home went to foster homes for Christmas, but the staff of Ithembehlelihle did not rest; they decided to host a fun day on he 16th December 2009 with jumping castle and lunch for “children at risk” (poor, HIV positive, orphaned etc.) from a nearby school—Thokosa School. The gifts we were able to take along for the children rendered this a perfect day, with so much excitement. In addition to the new gifts, two full bags of second hand toys was also delivered, which kept the kids occupied during setup of the jumping castle and gift table. St. Mary’s Children’s Home, Rossettenville - 25 children The morning of the 23rd December 2009, was our last visit. The St. Mary’s children eagerly rushed to assist with unloading the gifts. Two full bags of second had toys was also delivered to this home— And of course these two bags were immediately unpacked to entertain the children until we were ready to hand over the gifts.
